The Bristol Panthers under coach Ed Bates romped to the second best record in Bristol history, 18-3. During the season the Panthers also had a 12 game winning streak. They also won the T.T.A League West Championship with an 8-0 record. When the first A.P. Poll came out Bristol was rated fourth in the state. They finished 17th in the A.P. Poll and 8th in the U.P.I. Poll at the end of the season. The leading scorer, rebounder, and foul shooter was Ron Ohl, who was the first play from Bristol ever to be name on an All-State Team.
