The 1972-73 Bristol Panther Varsity Basketball team recorded its third best season in school history, 15-6. It was the 7th season under the command of Coach Bates. The Panthers also won the T.I.A. League West Championship for the second year in a row with a perfect record, 6-0. In the Newbury Holiday Tournaments held in December, the Panthers gained the first place trophy. At the Harding Sectional Tournaments held on February 23rd, the Panthers lost in the first game to Lordstown.
The Panthers took the champion trophy at the Newbury tournaments December 29th and 30th. The Panthers won the trophy by beating Newbury 60 to 51 and Bloomfield 59 to 34. the other team participating in tournaments was Ledgemont, which fell to Bloomfield in opening game.
